Course Changes (24/6/2010)
Over the last few weeks players will have noticed that an extensive rejuvenation of the lakes system on the course has been undertaken. All of our lakes have been cleared of choking vegetation, banks have been reformed and for the first time in many years, our lakes are full.
This work has been carried out in conjunction with improvements and repairs to the drainage and irrigation systems.
In addition to the lakes and drainage work, players will also have observed improvement work to bunkers and some exciting new tees are being constructed. The new tees will provide added length and challenges to the course. One of the most dramatic tee constructions taking place is a new island tee on the par 4 5th hole. The new tee, (for club competitions) will be sited on an island in the lake behind the existing 5th hole teeing area and will increase the length of the hole by aproximately 70 metres. This will make for an extremely challenging golf hole.
Other new tee work is being undertaken on the par 3 6th hole, the teeing area being extended backwards towards the 9th tee, which will provide the option of playing the 6th over a greater distance.
A new tee is also to be built well back from the existing teeing area on the 7th hole. Currently a long par 4, the 7th hole will become a par 5.
When the work is complete and the course has settled down again, these improvements will provide some fantastic challenges to golfers and further enhance the overall appeal of the course.

Course Report 24/06/2010
Good rains have benefitted the course and our lakes. Due to careful course management during the Summer and Autumn the fairways are well grassed and the greens are in excellent shape. The course condition is the envy of many clubs in the district.
Players must take note of any roped off areas of the course. The ropes have been strategically placed to lesson the impact of cart and buggy traffic to sensitive areas of the course. The protection from heavy traffic to these areas will ensure that the course will be in the very best playing condition for the upcoming Spring and Summer golf periods. Also, please be mindful that various improvement works are taking place on the course, so please look out for groundstaff and vehicles.
As always, please carry a sandbucket with you and please repair any pitch marks on the greens, not only yours, but any others that less careful golfers have failed to repair.
If you haven't played Tirhatuan in a while, come down and enjoy a game.
Thanks Willy!
